Its a small Island which has main four-five parts

KAMARI

Its a base location you can stay at the end of santorini it has beautiful black beach which has black fine concrete kind of sand which does not hurt you thankfully, and beautiful ratsuarants on entire shore. They have their sunbeds on the sea where you can sit and relax but you have to spend some minimum fix amount to be able to use sunbed but if you keep walking towards end of the beach there is free beach where you can just sit and relax on sand.

Our story about Kamari beach is – we didnt know about the minimum fixed amount and we thought we will order some drinks as we were full we ate at other hotel already so we went through the rastaurant and set on sunbed and my husband and daughter were sitting on sand and playing I just used sunbed and order a champagne as it was my Birthday but we were in hurry we needed to go another place called Oia which is on cliff. So we started leaving asking them for bill just after 30 minutes the staff said its €40 for 30 minutes I was like just had a glass of champagne he said this is our minimum charge you can eat if you want I said no body told us I dont know about this can you please spare us for the charges as we have already eaten and no place in my tummy to eat anymore 😀 but he was good guy he let us go just paid for champagne thats all so be careful when you use the sunbeds around the beach ask them in advnace.

There are so many beautiful souvinier shops, rastaurants after couple of days we found perfect and cheaper food to eat and best pitta bread in town , checkout them in Kamari if you want,it starts from €4 and amazing fresh hot food and wraps. Its near Kamari bus stop, below shown food and 2 beer cost us just €25.

Akrotiri

Akrotiri is an ancient Minoan Bronze Age settlement located on the Greek island of Santorini. It is often referred to as the “Minoan Pompeii” because of its well-preserved ruins. The settlement was inhabited from the 4th millennium BC until around 1627 BC when a volcanic eruption buried it in volcanic ash.

The excavations of Akrotiri began in 1967 and have revealed a sophisticated urban settlement with multi-story buildings, paved streets, and a complex drainage system. The architecture of Akrotiri is characterized by its use of advanced building techniques such as earthquake-resistant walls and the use of frescoes to decorate the walls of buildings.

The site also contains evidence of a thriving economy based on trade with other ancient civilizations in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean. Artifacts found at Akrotiri suggest that the people who lived there were skilled craftsmen in pottery, metal working, and wall painting.

One of the most famous finds at Akrotiri is the “Fresco of the Blue Monkeys,” a well-preserved fresco depicting monkeys engaging in various activities. Other notable frescoes include depictions of nature scenes, religious rituals, and daily life in Minoan society.

The eruption of the nearby volcano, Thera, is believed to have led to the abandonment of Akrotiri. The volcanic ash preserved the site, providing archaeologists with a unique glimpse into the daily life of a Bronze Age civilization.

It also offers beautiful White beach, Black beach, Red beach which is accesible by boat €15 per person you can hop on and hop off from boat on any beach except red beach.

Today, Akrotiri is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who come to explore the ancient ruins and learn about the history of the Minoan civilization. The site has been partially reconstructed to provide visitors with a better understanding of what the settlement would have looked like during its heyday.

Overall, Akrotiri is a fascinating archaeological site that offers valuable insights into the culture and lifestyle of the Minoan civilization that once thrived on the island of Santorini.
